Sisterhood: Embracing and Expanding the Circle

Being a member of a supportive and nurturing group of women – or Sisterhood – is a fairly new concept to me. sis·ter·hood noun the relationship between sisters. an association, society, or community of women linked by a common interest, religion, or trade. Growing up the only child in my family and separated from extended family (ie cousins), I relied on my friends to be the “siblings” that “I never had”. Even then, I can’t claim to have had many. Only one or two throughout the entirety of my adolescence. (But, they were friends of quality because they are still my friends today. They were and are the closest I’ve…

True Passion: Feeding, Rather Than Depleting

I have integrated a great deal of “wisdom”, I believe, the past few days with regard to energy. OH! For certain, I have known a great deal about it for many, many years now. But, we can know things, but really not KNOW things or even how it applies to “real life”, so to speak. Last week, I met with one of my beloved spiritual sisters last, Mona of Beautiful Mind. During our time together we spoke about balancing the four areas of our lives as humans: mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual, and what activities I currently engage in each of those areas that “feed” me, feed my own energy as…

    True Moments: Writing Our Story

My voice. Finding it, listening to it, and keeping a hold on it. These are things that I’ve struggled with all my life. As a child, I had a mother that was very vocal. Sometimes explosively so and so much so, that my own was drowned out or I simply feared to vocalize it. As an adult, I still tend to “lose” it. (My voice, not my mind. Though, there are – admittedly – times when that, too, is questionable.) But, really? Does that come as any surprise? There are approximately 7.7 billion “voices” on the planet, and this doesn’t even take into consideration the people that have “multiple voices” going on in…

Rise and Shine! Time to Get to Work

Well, hello there! How are things in your neck of the woods? I don’t know about you, but I’ve been experiencing things – energies – in a very intense way as of late. Just the past week or two, really. So much so that it doesn’t take much to drain me. From speaking to and reading the updates of others, many of US are experiencing the same sort of thing. (At least I’m in good company.) Apparently, it has to do with the energies that are coming in which we’re having to acclimate to. The times around the new and full moon will tend to be more intense and have…

The Tao Te Ching: Weak Overcomes Strong

The Weak overcomes the strong; the soft surpasses the hard. In all the world, there is no one who does not know this, but no one can master the practice. ~ A New Way of Thinking, A New Way of Being: Experiencing the Tao Te Ching by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer While the “original” text as translated by Gia-Fu Feng and Jane English in Lao Tsu – Tao Te Ching was thus: Under heaven nothing is more soft and yielding than water. Yet for attacking the solid and strong, nothing is better; It has no equal. The weak can overcome the strong; The supple can overcome the stiff. Under heaven everyone knows…

    Cultivating Dao: Progress!

So, I mentioned in my previous post that I’m currently working toward making a large pledge in my process of cultivating Dao. Well, I’m happy to say that I’m making progress! (Yay, me! lol) Thus far, I have memorized both primary and secondary parts of one ritual. (Only four more to go!) Thank goodness for index cards! lol I’ve returned to a technique that many of us relied on as kids. Flashcards! The visual really seems to help me. There are even times when I am practicing that I see the words in my mind. Hey! Use what works, right? I’ve also made progress on my “dilemma” with regard to the “onion…

    The Importance of Self-Care

Hello, again! This was the thought that went through my mind when I woke up this morning… lol We’re rolling with the punches, though, right? We’ve got this! Yesterday I mentioned re-accessing my priorities. When I spoke to Dh he said, “you’re still going to ‘meditation’, right?” See, twice a week I go to my beautiful soul sister’s studio. From the goodness of her heart, she conducts guided meditations which encourage us to breathe deeply. For me, this is especially beneficial given that I tend to be a shallow breather (unless I consciously focus on it, of course). This has actually led to some health problems for me. Who would…

    Nurturing the Buddha Seed Within

Have you ever had an experience that seemingly turned your entire life upside down? One that seemed to change the way you viewed the world itself? It may seem like an exaggeration, but that was what last weekend was for me. I am still in awe of the enormity of it all. Such revelations! Personally and with regard to my worldview (spiritual and mundane). That’s what’s taking the most amount of time for me to process, and as I understand it from others who have experienced the same 3-day seminar, one will continue to do so for many, many days (if not years) to come. After all, growing a “saint”, a “buddha”…

Still Around and With Focus – What’s Coming Up

Hello, again, dear friend. I bet you were beginning to wonder whether something happened to me or not. After all, I was getting pretty prolific in my posts there for a while, then nothing the past week. The past 7 days have been pretty busy around here. Not least of all is the fact that the kids are now out of school for the summer, and given that this is the first summer in our new beach-town home, LB and I are planning to enjoy it. We’ve already made a trip to the waterpark we have season passes to, which Dh and I gifted our family with this past holiday season. And…
